What is Retrace?

The second RRR question: where should price pull back to?

The DefinitionRetrace, defined

The Retrace is the expected pullback after a Reveal. Markets rarely move in straight lines — after showing direction, price typically returns to a prior level (a breaker, an order block, a fair value gap, or a structure point) before continuing. The Retrace is where you plan your entry, not where you chase. You identify the level in advance and wait for price to come to you.

Why It MattersWhy Retrace matters

Chasing entries after a Reveal means buying the top of a move or selling the bottom. The Retrace gives you a defined entry zone with a defined invalidation — which means smaller stops and better risk-to-reward.

In PracticeRetrace — a real example

Example · New York Session

After the sweep of the overnight high, you mark the 5,842 breaker as the Retrace zone. Price pulls back into it over the next 20 minutes, prints a rejection wick, and you enter. Stop above the sweep high. Defined risk.
